Training Games primarily are for the benefit of existing and anticipated roster players.
While you do not have to be a roster player, or even be 30 years of age or older, to play in
Training Games, preference is given to roster players, then to non-roster
registered players, then to non-registered players who are at least 30 years of age, then
to any other players. Game fees for the first Training Game of a series of Training Games is
$13 for registered players and $15 for non-registered players. If we have more than 1 umpire
at a game, then the fees for those playing in the NEXT training game of the series will be
adjusted accordingly. For our Training Games, Special Games and other Special Events, we make commitments based
upon clearly defined participation goals. In order to determine whether we can expect to
meet those participation goals, we issue a call for reservations with a clearly set
cut-off date and time. At that cut-off date and time, we make our "Go/No-Go" decision
based upon those reservations. Consequently, any who has a reservation who cannot fulfill
that reservation will be charged for the activity unless 1) they cancel the reservation a
reasonable time before the event AND 2) we reach our participation goals without them
fulfilling the reservation. The League reserves the right for ANY reason to charge for
the reservation even if these two conditions are met. ReservationsA list of confirmed reservations, and the order of assignment off of the waiting / second game list
will be posted to this webpage on Monday evening. All assignment priorities are subject to
change without notice. Players with reservations 1 through 24 will play even if
the only is one game. Players with reservations # 25 and higher can use the second field,
1f available for any appropriate purpose as long as sunlight is available. A note about late cancellations: Charges for Training games and Special games
are handled differently than charges for regularly scheduled games. All roster players
are charged for regularly scheduled games. Accordingly, the decisions of players to come to
the fields are not significantly effected by players who do not attend. HOWEVER, for
Training games and Special games, only those players requesting reservations as of the time
that the assignment prioirty list is posted are charged. Many players do not have to worry
about attending if they have not requested a reservation. Many players (basically those with
assignment numbers greater than 24) make their decisions to come to the field in reliance upon
those who say that they will show up, actually showing up. When players requesting a reservation
do not show up, then other players coming out to the field because the number of reservations
indicate that they will get to play, risk coming to the field but not being able to play because
there are not enough players. Many times, it does no harm because of the number of players who actually
do attend. Ocassionally, players not honoring the comnitment from their reservations may cause
other players to make a wasted trip to the fields in addition to frustrating their legitimate
expectatons of being able to play. We do everything that we can do to avoid this happening
BUT it really is up to those who say that they will show up to actually show up. We ALL
rely upon EACH OTHER! If you request a reservation and then must cancel, then please do EVERYTHING that you can do
to get your name off the reservation list BEFORE it is posted Monday evening! Reservations may change at any time in order to honor the preferences described
above. Please check this list again just before heading to the fields. |
